The Role of a MIDMS™ Practitioner

Certified MIDMS™ practitioners are trained representatives of The MERGE Lab™ system. As a practitioner, you carry the responsibility of upholding the integrity, clarity, and ethical application of the MIDMS™ framework in all professional contexts. Your conduct reflects directly on the system, the institution, and the clients you serve.

Public Representation

Practitioners may represent themselves as MIDMS™-trained or MERGE Lab™-certified within the scope of their completed training. All public-facing descriptions of your practice must accurately reflect the educational and transformational nature of MIDMS™. You may not describe your work in language that implies clinical, medical, or licensed therapeutic authority unless you hold independent credentials that authorize such representations.

Educational and Transformational Nature of the System

MIDMS™ is an educational and self-development mapping framework. It is not a clinical intervention, therapeutic treatment, or medical service. Practitioners are required to clearly communicate this distinction to all clients, participants, and professional contacts before and during any engagement. The system is designed to help individuals recognize, track, and understand the structure of their experience — not to diagnose, treat, or replace professional care.

Scope of Practice

MIDMS™ practitioners are authorized to: deliver MIDMS™ mapping sessions as trained; apply the Five Lenses and Four Gates within the scope of their certification; and support clients in understanding their internal experience through the MIDMS™ framework. Practitioners are not authorized to: provide clinical diagnoses; prescribe or recommend medical or psychiatric treatment; represent MIDMS™ sessions as therapy; or use any portion of the MIDMS™ framework to substitute for licensed professional care.

Medical and Psychological Credentials

If you hold independent licensure as a psychologist, therapist, physician, or other credentialed professional, you may indicate that alongside your MIDMS™ practitioner status. However, you must keep those credentials clearly separate from your MIDMS™ work and must not imply that MIDMS™ constitutes or qualifies as licensed clinical practice. The two must be represented as distinct professional functions.

Client Safety and Ethical Responsibility

Practitioners are expected to refer clients to licensed professionals when presenting concerns fall outside the scope of educational mapping. If a client discloses a medical emergency, acute mental health crisis, or any condition requiring clinical intervention, you must direct them to appropriate licensed care immediately. MIDMS™ sessions are not a crisis response service.

Confidentiality

Practitioner sessions should be conducted with respect for client confidentiality. While MIDMS™ is not bound by HIPAA or clinical confidentiality laws, practitioners are expected to treat session content with discretion and to establish clear expectations with clients around privacy.

Use of Materials

Certified practitioners are granted a limited, non-transferable license to apply MIDMS™ frameworks in one-on-one sessions conducted within The MERGE Lab™ standards. Practitioners may not reproduce, teach, redistribute, or repackage any MIDMS™ materials, frameworks, or terminology for external training, publication, or commercial use.

Certification Integrity

MIDMS™ certification is issued by The MERGE Lab™ upon satisfactory completion of all required training, sessions, and assessments. Certifications are personal, non-transferable, and represent completion of a proprietary training program — not an accredited academic degree. Misrepresenting the nature of your certification is a violation of these standards and may result in revocation.

Violations and Consequences

Practitioners who violate these standards — including misrepresentation, unauthorized use of materials, or conduct that undermines client safety — may have their certification revoked, be prohibited from future participation in The MERGE Lab™ programs, and be subject to further action as appropriate.
